6) Will novels eventually be considered to be something of the past?
Will books soon be a thing of the past? With the technological age that we live in, it's not that improbable that books could soon be forgotten in the future. Every day advances are made to make the world we live in more virtual. With computers getting smaller and smaller, to the point where they are nearly as small as books, reading a novel online really isn't that inconvenient. I mean, who writes with a pen and paper anymore? Nearly our entire writing class is done through computers. These blogs, most of our essays, homework assignments, are all done virtually. It's so easy to quickly access information through the Internet that going out to the bookstore to buy a book just seems silly. Why should I pay 10$ for a book at Barns and Nobel, when I could read the same book for free online? It's a no-brainer. Novels will soon be a thing of the past.

I too feel that novels will be a thing of the past, but I see this as a down turn for our society. I myself do not enjoy reading at all, I never have, but when I do read there is somethign comforting about having a book in fron of you instead of a computer screen. I was watching tv the other day and I saw a comercial for the Sony Kindle and I thought of how terrible it would be if there were no more books and that everyone had to stare at a screen. Below is a link to the website to buy the kindle and when you look at it doesn't it look uncomfortable to hold and read? It would seem to me that reading a book on there would just be uncomfortable especially because it seems so big and obnoxious to hold. It has a keyboard built in and also the ability to download books directly to your kindle. Honestly if I had this it would probably distract me to no end because it gives you the ability to do other things than just simply reading. I enjoy a book, when I have to read, because it allows me to focus just on the story and not all the other things attached to it (which are none because it's just a book). Also, I feel that a book is just a classic symbol of literature, just as the scroll used to be long ago. Ever since we were children, we were taught to read through books, not on computer screens. Are we really going to go out and buy a "baby's first computer screen" or a "baby's first book" Which sounds better? I guess that all good things must come to an end and sadly I fear that book has seen better days and will soon no longer be existent.
